For the love of vintage!

Continuing with the theme of wearing vintage... Well, let's start with a confession. I've been very unreliable when it comes to posting to this blog and to instagram for a good while now --and all for a very good reason! Behind the scenes, I've been working on a large project that feels like it's been there in my mind for ages, buried beneath layers of other things I deemed 'more important' or 'more appropriate'. Don't get me started on all the 'shoulds' and 'shouldn'ts' I still live by... But, it seems I'm getting rid of them, little by little, and thanks to this, I was able to finally set my mind on a sweet, sweet and cherished goal of --well, no point in delaying saying it any further! --a goal of starting my own vintage shop. There, it's out in the open now! I've loved vintage clothes for years and since I've learned to sew, I have also loved making reproductions of them, based on patterns found in my collection of vintage sewing magazines. This little shop of mine is making me so happy because I can combine both these passions in one place. I truly can't wait to share all of this with you but I need to keep my mouth shut just a little longer...

Since I'm still working on the grand opening, all I'm going to share right now is that I named my shop Apple Thief, and that you can already follow it on instagram where I'm posting previews of goods to come. Stay up to date via following this blog and instagram as I have a neat promotion on its way for you all! It's going to be a blast.

On a theme of today's outfit --this dress is a late 1960s/early 1970s piece that I purchased for Apple Thief but decided to keep for myself. It's just so darling with the glittery flowers on the bodice and the slightly puffed long sleeves. The length is unusual for me but I decided I like it and won't be shortening this piece. It's a lovely combination of elegant and cute and I think that's the general direction I want to take with dressing myself nowadays. Let me tell you, it's really hard to have all the beautiful dresses I get for my shop and then let them go knowing all too well I could be wearing them instead...! That's not entirely true though because I simply enjoy searching for vintage and then just a thought of letting it find a new and loving home makes me happy. I hope it will make you happy too, if you ever decide to purchase something from your humble Apple Thief!

Again, don't forget to check my (more frequent than this blog!) updates on instagram. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart if you actually do subscribe .
