I made a blouse.

I've recently had my sewing machines cleaned and set, and I thought that was a neat moment to try sewing something that I hadn't tried before. I remembered this very sheer white polycotton in black splatter print and, inspired by my lovely friend who has sewn her first Sorbetto Top by Colette Patterns, started drafting a blouse for myself. I've never before sewn with such sheer fabric and was curious how it would behave under my needle. It went surprisingly well and I apologize but I have no blood chilling story here!

I do have a (very short) story about the pattern design, however. It was my first attmpt at making my own pattern (sorta)! As a base for my top, I used the upper part of my Spring Dress and merged it with Sorbetto Top's armholes and sleeves. This franken-pattern worked surprisingly well becasue, well, why wouldn't it? Those were two nice patterns to sew up. I made the Sorbetto once before and it was delightful, and that Spring Dress went flowingly, too.

    1. Ahh, thank you! This time I took my own photos, this blouse is far too sheer for current weather so I jumped into my little studio :). Normally most of my photos are taken by my wonderful boyfriend and mum, they're gifted as hell!

    1. Thank you so much! It's actually my second blouse but it's a big improvement over the first, probably because there were some dresses and skirts in between. Seems one does get better with time, yay!

I'm so glad you've found me! I've just been to your log and loved it so much, I now want to read all of it :).

  7. Wow, this is cute. Love the fabric paired with the black collar and bindings. As SaraLily already said, this looks very professional.
Have the Sorbetto on my Computer, maybe I should finally print it :-)

    1. Thank you so much! I was lazy enough to finish most of the inside edges with pinking shears only but I guess next time I make this blouse I'll do it all with bias binding and then it will truly look pro!

Sorbetto is great and simple to make, and gives itself to modifications easily. You might indeed like it :).

  9. The fabric is so wonderful, what a very pretty blouse! Is that a button or a pin on the collar? Either way, it looks very nice :-)
